Water experiences in Mazatlan

Harbor

Mazatlan

Tres islas frente a la bahía: Venados, Pájaros y Lobos. Se fondea en Venados.

What you need to know

  • Isla Venados, Isla Pájaros and Isla Lobos, off the bay
  • You anchor to swim at Venados; Pájaros is usually a pass-by
  • Locally a short run is often from 3 hours; 5 hours covers more of the bay
  • Humpbacks December to March: the captain says if they are there that day

The harbor

Off Mazatlán sit the three islands: Venados, Pájaros and Lobos. Yachts leave from Marina Mazatlán (Cerritos) or a downtown dock; they confirm which when you request.

Venados is where you anchor and get in the water. Pájaros is usually a close pass for the birds, not the long stop. Three hours covers a short bay run; Faro and Piedras Blancas typically need five or more. That is what the harbor runs, not our minimum — each listing sets its own.

December to March is humpback season. If that is the plan, say so when you request; the captain tells you if the sea that day allows it. We are still opening the catalog here.
